Sunset at Pelican Point

Posted in Uncategorized on April 23, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

I drove down to Big Lake last night with friends to shoot what we could find.  This was at the end of the evening….sunset at Pelican Point.  I warmed it up to give the sky a deeper blue tint using the Brillance/Warmth filter in the Nik Effects software.   Of course, I made the image cooler (more blue) instead of warm.

Poppy Trio

Posted in Uncategorized on April 20, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

Another from my trip to Mercer Gardens.  One poppy bloom and two buds waiting to open.  This is a compliation of three images.  In each image, I focused on a different area so that there is greater detail in the flower and each of the buds.  Then I combined the three images in Photoshop.

Poppy Time!

I usually make a trip to Mercer Gardens near Spring, TX, each spring.  I always try to plan my visit around the poppy blooms.  Just great flowers to photograph.  This is one from my shoot.  It was an overcast day with a little shower before 8:00 a.m.  Perfect day to photograh blooms.

And More Azaleas

Another from the Wise property.  The azaleas are already beginning to fade as petals fall from the bushes.  It’s nice to have these images to hold us over until another spring rolls around.

Bridge at Wise Property

Posted in Uncategorized on April 12, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

This is another from my shoot last week at the Wise property.  Such a tranquil and peaceful scene.  I applied several filters in PhotoShop CS4 which add some saturation and detail.  Basically, my typical post-editing workflow.

The Azalea Arrival

Azaleas showed a little later this spring but they came in their glory.   This was shot at my favorite azalea location just north of Sulphur, LA.  A very appreciative thank you to Col. Wise for his gracious annual invitation to photograph on his property.   I spent an hour or so one afternoon this week after work…..happy and content in my element.   This image has a bit of a glow added as well as a little bit of a buzz.   Two of my favorite post-editing effects.

Lakeshore Sunset

Posted in Uncategorized on April 1, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

This from a few weeks ago along Lakeshore Drive overlooking  Lake Charles.   Not a lot of post editing in this one.  Saturated the colors a bit after a RAW conversion.  Just Mother Nature in all her glory!
