One from San Antonio

Posted in Uncategorized on January 31, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

This one from a trip to San Antonio along the Riverwalk.  I used the Buzz Simplifier to make the photo look more artistic and then bordered with a sloppy border that I have saved for uses like this.  San Antonio is a great place for photographers.  Lots of opportunities….Riverwalk, the missions, and a nice zoo, too.

Wildlife at Lacassine Pool

Posted in Uncategorized on January 25, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

I took a drive Saturday afternoon through the Lacassine Nature Preserve.  Not a lot of wildlife but there were a few alligators visible.

Also a few birds out soaking up the sun.

My favorites are the Great Blue Herons.  These images were all captured from my vehicle and shot through an open window.

Beach Evening

Posted in Uncategorized on January 21, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

This was shot last spring on a Florida beach.   I used some color overlays to heighten the sunset hues.

Tonight’s Sunset

I made a quick trip to Prien Lake Park to capture this lovely sight.

Making a Sketch from a Photograph

Posted in Uncategorized on January 17, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

I really liked the look of this corner on a Victoria BC street but the photo was pretty boring.  I think it looks better as a sketch.  I started with a sketch action written by Dave Jaseck and then continued to play with additional coloring and saturation.  Dave’s actions, along with many others, can be found at www.atncentral.com/download.htm

A Cypress Lake

Posted in Uncategorized on January 15, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

Another from East Texas, a stand of cypress trees just off Highway 90 near Jasper, Texas.  I used a number of  filters on this as I edited in PhotoShop.   The filter program that I utilize most often is Nik Color Efex Pro.  Several filters in this plug-in show up in my post-editing workflow.

An East Texas Sunset

Posted in Uncategorized on January 13, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

This is overlooking the B A Steinhagen Reservoir in East Texas on Highway 190 between Jasper and Woodville.   Nearby is the Martin Dies State Park where I took “The Watchers” image that I previously posted.  I made a quick drive through this pretty park and will plan a return trip when I have more time to explore.   For this shot, pulled off the side of the road (illegally, I might add) and took two quick shots.  I liked how this one truned out.

Think Warm

Posted in Uncategorized on January 8, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

Chilly weather here in SW Louisiana.  Staying in tonight and going through some older images from warmer times!  This was shot on Watercolor Lake, Watercolor, Florida, in May of 2009.

At the Pier

Posted in Uncategorized on January 7, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

A responder vessel at dock near Calcasieu Point.   Check out the pelicans resting on the anchor line.   I really like how the twilight color of the sky is reflected in the water.

A Pelican Closeup

Posted in Uncategorized on January 4, 2010 by Brenda LaFleur

Another from my pelican shoot opportunity yesterday.  The pelicans were so focused on getting raw fish bites they weren’t at all worried about me.  I could get within several feet without them being concerned about my presence.  Really gave me lots of closeup ops.
